How it all started….
It all started by wanting to give a gift to my parents, something unexpected, something that they wouldn’t be able to guess. It was a gift for them but mostly for the whole family to enjoy especially me. One day, they left for a trip and ran to their house to grab the boxed VHS-C tapes and figure out a way to convert them. By investigating and knowing a little bit of tech, I decided to do it myself. Many families like mine, began to upgrade to DVD players and now, to streaming devices that can’t play our home videos easily. Like most of us, our home videotapes, old computers, and photos got stored away. Having them stored can make us forget about them or not have the time to play them. RememberWhen can provide the service for you!
My parents had some tapes labeled where I remembered those days or remember watching them on our VHS player growing up but the fun ones were the ones that were without a label because they brought curiosity to what was recorded. The day came when my whole family gathered for dinner and I was able to play the videos on their TV. Time flew watching the videos as they brought back wonderful memories of moments that were forgotten.
A few of those videos had recordings from when our family went to Mexico for the first time in the late 90’s. In 2022 our whole family made a surprise trip to visit our family in Mexico and share these lost memories. On that trip, I photo-scan hundreds of photos from my grandparent’s photo albums. The biggest surprise was that we found a bag of more VHS-C tapes my mom had left years ago. We had no idea what was in them. I was able to bring them home and convert them and to our surprise, we found footage of a trip to Knots Berry Farm, Chuck-E-Cheese, and our first family home in Bend Oregon.
Many if not all the tapes I was able to recover and images that I was able to scan, brought so much pleasure to my family and it motivated me to offer this service to friends, and now to you and your family. Relive and remember places, weddings, and celebrations again.
….And this is how RememberWhen was created.
